So, remember how we’ve already seen the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze completely uncovered? Well, sit tight, because Chevrolet wants to show you something. It is a photo of the 2016 Cruze, only cleverly thrown in a little shadow. Yep, the company’s teaser game has begun ahead of the new Cruze’s likely imminent reveal, and the only official information accompanying the teaser photo is the promise that the new sedan will be larger yet lighter than before.
Saying that a new car is lighter yet larger than before is becoming less and less of a newsworthy declaration, but it’s still a good thing. Less weight means better handling and fuel economy, and larger, well, the outgoing Cruze could have used a few more inches down its middle to better accommodate rear-seat passengers’ legs. As is clear from the spy photo above, the new Cruze puts a lot more real estate between its front and rear axles, which bodes well for rear leg room. While it looks vaguely similar to the Chinese-market, global Cruze that debuted last year, the U.S.-spec model features sharper (and better-looking) detailing. Both cars ride on variations of the same D2XX front-drive architecture. Expect full details to emerge when the Cruze officially debuts—along with non-spy or shadowed images—later this month.
