The competition version of Ford’s Mustang Shelby GT350R, the GT350R-C, will take to the track for the first time this coming weekend, in the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge at Watkins Glen, New York.
Like the upcoming street car, the GT350R-C is powered by a 5.2-liter flat-plane crankshaft V-8. Compared to the GT350R, the racing version utilizes a thoroughly revised suspension with a lower ride height and retuned springs, bushings, anti-roll bars, and ball joints. Campaigned by Multimatic Motorsports, the Shelby-ized Mustang will compete in the series for the remainder of this season.
If you can’t get out to the Glen this weekend, you have six more chances to see the bad ‘Stang in action. Check the IMSA website for specifics on the upcoming events at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (in Ontario), Lime Rock, Elkhart Lake, Virginia International Raceway, Circuit of the Americas, and Road Atlanta.
