2016 BMW M3 and M4 Priced: Costs a Bit More, Comes with a Bit More

Although the U.S. inflation rate is stalled at zero for the first time in seven years, Munich isn’t in the mood for flat profits. So BMW North America has raised prices on all its 2016 models, and for the 2016 M3 and M4, the increases are about two percent over the 2015 cars—but there’s a similarly incremental bit of additional standard equipment thrown in.

At $64,195, the 2016 M3 sedan is up by $1245. The Harman Kardon surround sound (previously an $875 option) joins the standard-equipment list, along with satellite radio and keyless entry, both of which were formerly part of the $4300 Executive Package along with other executive perks, such as a backup camera and headlamp washers.

It’s the same story for the 2016 M4 coupe, which sees the same increase and new equipment. It now starts at $66,395. A 2016 M4 convertible will now set you back $74,895, or $1445 more than 2015. All of the same new equipment applies, with the addition of a center pass-through in the rear seats for hauling, well, what exactly are you hauling in an M4 convertible?

All M3 and M4 models have upgraded navigation systems with wireless updates and faster processing speeds, plus chrome accents scattered throughout the interior, L-shaped LED taillamps, and other minutiae only the M3 forums will notice, such as the climate-control display switching from BMW’s trademark amber to white. Oh, and BMW is dropping Sakhir Orange Metallic paint from its available options, including its online configurator, and will only make it available through a custom order.

That’s about it on the M3 front, at least until the stealthy M3 GTS makes its debut at Pebble Beach in August. That model should reach U.S. dealers by next spring, or perhaps a bit earlier.
