If Lamborghini drivers have two things in common, its that they like to drive fast and that they like to be seen driving fast. So we imagine that more than a few of Lambo’s wealthy bull riders will be thrilled to hear that the supercar firm has confirmed the imminent production of the mega-extroverted roadster version of its just-unleashed Aventador LP750-4 Superveloce coupe [pictured].
Surprised? We’re not. When we spoke to Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann as well as other Lamborghini insiders at the rather intense first drive of the SV coupe last month in Barcelona, they all dropped hints of the roadster’s inevitability, some going so far as to say that nearly every one of the Superveloce coupe’s powertrain upgrades (from 691 hp to 740 hp) and 110-pound weight-saving measures (fixed aero modifications, racing seats, insulation removal, and rife use of composites) could carry over to the Aventador roadster nearly as is.
No roadster-specific details were provided other than the production number of 500 units, which Lambo should have absolutely zero trouble unloading now that the 600-car run of the half-million-dollar coupe is sold out. Dealers are taking orders as you read this, so should you be in the lucky target market for this car and want one of these sun-drenched supercars, call your accountant and have him free up about $550K. Then start picking out your favorite color.
