Looking to do some al fresco motoring, Italian-style? Well, good sir, consider the 2015 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider. It’s out this summer for $65,495.
That’s $10,300 more than the coupe, which finally launched last fall after what seemed like an eternity of mythical storytelling that promised Alfa would return to America. It has, and so far (through May) 386 4C coupes have been sold, most all of them the 500-run Launch Edition, which packs a boatload of options for a few ticks more than a base Spider.
New to the Spider is that limoncello paint we’ve seen since the car’s Detroit debut this January, along with an optional carbon-fiber trim package that dresses up the HVAC vents and other areas. A new optional Alpine stereo incorporates Bluetooth, USB, HD radio, and SiriusXM, while the four-cylinder sound system gets a boost from Slovenian exhaust maker Akrapovic. The two-mode titanium exhaust basically combines the standard and the muffler-free race exhaust into one active unit that kills the 1.7-liter’s drone when your ears can’t take it anymore. Plus, it adds a carbon-fiber bezel for the newly center-mounted exhaust tips (all other 4Cs have exhaust outlets at either end of the bumper).
Alfa also added “Tobacco” brown leather seats and a black leather dash with brown stitching. A carbon-fiber removable roof in place of the standard cloth toupee will be available later in the year.
Besides the extra $10,300, what does the 4C Spider cost you? An extra 22 pounds, according to Alfa, with the total an estimated 2487. That has to be one of the least pound-additive roof-ectomies in the business.
