Ford and Los Angeles–based Galpin Auto Sports have a history of partnering on unique automotive creations that dates back half a century—Galpin is credited with helping to popularize custom vans and street rods in the 1960s—and here to prove that the relationship is as lively as ever is the F-150 Halo Sandcat. This Galpinized Ford F-150 was created to promote Xbox One’s upcoming Halo 5: Guardian shoot-’em-up game, which debuts October 27 of this year.

The F-150 Halo Sandcat started life as a 2015 Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew 4×4 with the Ecoboost V-6. It then was done over in “United Nations Space Command militaristic style” with an Addictive Desert Designs’ Baja XTR off-road conversion kit, including custom Fox Racing shocks, Deaver leaf springs, a Currie full floater rear axle, ADD fenders, side steps, a chase rack, and sweet 17-inch wheels. Galpin supplied the chunky off-road tires and a full, custom matte-green Halo body wrap. Inside, two rear-seat riders can play an Xbox One custom gaming system with displays mounted in the back of the head restraints, which ought to be particularly challenging to see while bouncing over the dismembered bodies of enemy fighters. Or potholes.

Ford says that the Halo Sandcat is “special enough” to have been officially designated the “M552″ code name by the United Nations Space Command, the self-described “prime human organization in the Halo universe.” This closely matches the F-150’s (actual) Ford code name, P552. No word on whether the truck will appear in the game itself, but with a code name and everything, we can’t imagine that it won’t.

The F-150 Halo Sandcat will be displayed at the Los Angeles Convention Center during the 2015 Electronic Experience Expo, taking place from June 16–18. After that, Ford says the Halo Sandcat will be on the prowl at other public events leading up to the launch of Halo 5: Guardians this fall. You’ve been warned.
