“The large-car platform, of which DBX is the first execution, is engineered from first principles to accept an electric powertrain,” Palmer said. “It doesn’t get that at launch, obviously, but it does during its life span—although not necessarily in the guise of the DBX. The RapidE is the first iteration, and, yes, it is a proof of concept. We’re doing it for 155 trusted customers and that’s because, like most of the industry, we know nothing about how electric cars will be used with our customer group. That’s what we’re going to find out.”
