Volkswagen has released official images and info covering some of the vehicles it will display at RETTmobil, a European show for rescue and emergency vehicles, including one based on the new Golf Alltrack and a special Amarok pickup.

The all-wheel-drive Golf Alltrack rescue command car, which will be shown alongside a similar version of the Passat wagon, has the requisite lights and livery, and is fitted with fire extinguishers, a light-based signaling system, prep for digital radio communications, and a control panel with the additional buttons necessary to use the new gadgets. The liftgate is fitted with additional emergency lights on its underside, too, for more visibility when it’s open. Like so:

The Alltrack is fitted with an accident data recorder that logs not only longitudinal and lateral acceleration, vehicle speed, and brake use, but also if the vehicle’s lights and/or sirens were on, whether the vehicle was hit when it was parked, and if the turn signals and headlights were in operation. The car is fitted with standard all-wheel drive, but VW hasn’t detailed what’s under the hood.

Even fewer details were provided on the Amarok, but it’s been done up with the markings of the Deutsche Lebens-Rettungs-Gesellschaft, or DLRG, which is a Red Cross–style nonprofit organization in Germany focused on water-based rescue and safety education. This explains why it has been Photoshopped onto a beach.
