Browse Chevrolet’s string of teasers for the 2016 Camaro, all of which show individual bits of the car, and you’d be forgiven for thinking that the automaker isn’t previewing a new car so much as it is giving us an unprecedented early look at what the sixth-gen Camaro will look like in a junkyard in the year 2036. The latest recycled, er, we mean, new Camaro components to be revealed? The hood and rear quarter panel.
We’d say Chevrolet is probably finished stringing us along, but there are still two weeks between now and when the 2016 Camaro is fully unveiled at a special event on Detroit’s Belle Isle. So expect more bits and pieces to get the teaser treatment. We will say that the Camaro’s hood looks nearly as complex and sculpted as the Corvette Stingray‘s wonderfully creased engine lid, while the rear quarter panel shows that Chevy’s designers are as keen on stripping visual weight out of the previously bulky and heavy-looking Camaro as the engineers were bent on stripping pounds from the car itself. Well, it looks as though we’ll need to update our exclusive ’16 Camaro mock-up with this latest reveal.
