NAGPUR: Even as the city went boisterous on Tuesday after BJP MLA from Nagpur South-West Devendra Fadnavis was nominated to be the chief minister of Maharashtra, many party workers started heading for Mumbai to attend the oath-taking ceremony at Wankhede stadium on October 31.

"Over 1,500 party workers have already reached Mumbai," NMC standing committee chairman Narendra Borkar, who is also East Nagpur chief of BJP, told TOI from Mumbai. He said several BJP corporators and NMC office-bearers have reached there to attend the ceremony.

Party workers in the city told TOI that they have learnt about a special train being arranged from Nagpur to Mumbai on October 30.

However, Central Railway chief public relations officer (CPRO) Narendra Patil said he had no information about the special train booked by BJP.

Nagpur Central Railway PRO PD Patil too said that as Nagpur division doesn't have a special rake, the train has to come from Mumbai. "As of now, we don't have any intimation about the special train booked by BJP," said Patil.

However, party workers informed that those who worked hard during campaigning and on poll booths on the D-Day are being taken in four-wheelers. One of the workers informed that arrangement of two vehicles for each booth in Fadnavis's South-West constituency has been made to ferry them to Mumbai.

However, BJP corporator Sandip Joshi, a close aide of Fadnavis who is camping in Mumbai, told TOI that no special arrangements have been made to bring party workers there.

"Many party functionaries and workers are expected to leave for Mumbai in next two days. Those who did not get confirmed railway reservation are reaching Mumbai in own private vehicles," said Joshi.

Meanwhile, airfare to Mumbai in the next three days has also flared up. The minimum fare is between Rs11,463 and Rs21,852 for October 29, between Rs7,264 and Rs15,027 for October 30 and Rs5,271 and 9,943 for October 31.

Airport sources said there is no intimation about special flights on October 31.
