New Delhi: A Special court on Wednesday summoned former telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran along with his brother, two others and four companies including SUN Direct TV as accused in the Aircel-Maxis deal case.

A Special 2G court summoned the former telecom minister along with his brother Kalanithi Maran, Malaysian business tycoon T Ananda Krishnan as accused in the case on March 2, 2015.

Augustus Ralph Marshall, a top official of Malaysia-based Maxis group was also summoned as accused by court.

Besides these individuals the court also summoned four companies including Sun Direct TV Pvt Ltd as accused.

In August, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had filed a chargesheet in the Aircel-Maxis deal against the former minister.

Filing the said chargesheet, Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi said the available material with CBI was enough to prosecute Dayanidhi and his brother Kalanithi Maran in the Aircel Maxis case.

CBI in 2011 had filed its FIR in the case alleging that the then Telecom Minister Dayanidhi Maran had used his influence to help Malayasian business tycoon T Ananda Krishnan acquire Aircel by allegedly coercing its owner Chinnakannan Sivasankaran.
