Fadnavis unlikely to shift to Ramgiri - Times of India

NAGPUR: You may still be able to meet the new chief minister at his existing residence 276, Trikoni Park, as he is unlikely to shift to Ramgiri, the official residence of the chief minister in Nagpur. The new CM will be available to Nagpurians only on weekends as is the common practice. Other than Mumbai, Nagpur is the only city in the state to have a bungalow for the CM because it was the capital of Central Province till 1956.

Sources close to Fadnavis said that the CM wanted to maintain his common man image and shifting to Ramgiri may go against it. "In Mumbai, he will stay at the official residence Varsha but as he lives in Nagpur he may prefer his own house. In any case, other CMs worked from their residences when they visited their constituencies," a source said.

Fadnavis' existing office will be used for constituency related work. "Any person who wants to meet him or seek his help for getting some work done in the capacity of CM will have to go to Hyderabad House. For works related only to Nagpur South-West then he should come to Trikoni Park," the source further said.

It is for the first time after a gap of 58 years that Hyderabad House will function all year round. After 1956, the bungalow was open only for three weeks during winter session of state legislature. Ramgiri was used a bit more as the CM used to stay there while on visit to Nagpur.

"His personal staff will be divided into three categories. Two persons will shift to Mumbai with him, one or two persons will be sent to Hyderabad House (CM's secretariat in Nagpur) and the remaining will be work from his residence. Ramgiri will be used by him for meeting dignitaries when he is in Nagpur," another source said.

The new CM had a personal staff of seven till now. Shashank Dabholkar handled matters related to Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT), Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), etc. Kumar Masram dealt with cases related to police, hospitals and collectorate. Atul Thakre assisted Fadnavis solely for legislature session related work. Nachiket Pimplapure, while handling legislative work, doubled up as his public relations officer (PRO). Chetan More drafted all official correspondence including confidential ones and was assisted by Ankit Shrivas. Sumit Wankhede, the latest addition to Fadnavis' team, accompanies him when he is out of Nagpur. Ever since Fadnavis became front runner for the CM's post, members of his personal staff have become much sought after.
