'Proud to be Nagpurian after watching Fadnavis swearing in' - Times of India

Nagpur: Even as the swearing in ceremony of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and his cabinet colleagues was under way at Wankhede stadium in Mumbai, twitter was abuzz with congratulatory and 'feeling proud' messages.

nilanjan banerjee ‏@fokutkeeda tweeted, "congratulations & welcome to the hot seat @Dev_Fadnavis #CMFadnavis! lots of hope from the public & too many mistakes to correct #Nagpur." Similarly, Sneha Florian ‏@FlorianSneha tweeted, "feelin proud after watching d 'oath-taking' ceremony of d mayor of my city bcuming d chief minister my state #proudmoment".


Many tweeted about the increased prominence of Nagpur in politics, both at state and central level. Vinay Kaple ‏@pizzo134 tweeted, "Purple patch for Nagpur politics, Nitin Gadkari got the cabinet post in central govt and now Devendra Fadnavis the CM".


HS SUMANTH ‏@HSSUMANTH also wrote in similar vein, "So Nagpur the new BOSS in #Maharashtra #MahaNewCM #MahaOath congratulations to @Dev_Fadnavis @BJP4Maharashtra and all the Maharashtrians!!"


Most of the tweets showed the pride citizens felt as one of their own took on the top job. Bilal Ahmed ‏@BilalAh82358301 tweeted, "Finally Deshat Narendra rajyat Devendra first Nagpurian CM i m proud to be Nagpurian congrats to everyone of #Nagpur..."


Similarly, Rishab Narang ‏@rishirich89 tweeted, "Such a proud moment for #Nagpurians. @Dev_Fadnavis, we expect a lot from u. Time to shine. Congratulations #NewMahaCM." And Mantastic Mulga ‏@Pratikatron tweeted, "I am a proud #Nagpur guy today." Sampanna Wahokar ‏@SampannaWahokar tweeted, "Devendra Fadnavis swears-in as the CM of Maharashtra. a very proud moment for all Nagpurians. a sincere and capable leader indeed.."


Calling it Nagpur's moment, Ajax Ngp ‏@AjaxNgp wrote, "#Nagpur's moment in sun! Our favourite son takes oath as BJP 's First CM!" Shaikh Tanveer ‏@shkh_tanveer also tweeted, "A Historic Day for Nagpur I wish the best work in Maharashtra newly CM @Dev_Fadnavis and his cabinet team of ministers".


Celebrating the occasion, Gulshankumar Wankar ‏@GulshanMWankar tweeted, "@Dev_Fadnavis: Aali re aali, Ata Majhi baari aali! #JaiMaharashtra #JaiVidarbha #Nagpur in Headlines!!"


The tweets also showed the hopes that people have from the new CM. Vikramaditya Deo ‏@Lexponent tweeted, "@Dev_Fadnavis Congratulations!!! Nagpur is proud of you and have countless hopes from you. Congratulations again and again!!!" And sachin sarode ‏@sasarode tweeted, "@nitin_gadkari @Dev_Fadnavis Sir u both r d assets 4 Nagpur. Expects a lot from u both. Would like to see NAGPUR at new heights in next 5 yrs".


Some also tweeted about the RSS link. Wanderer ‏@ibfc007 tweeted, "Nothing shows the breakdown of the congress system more than a RSS worker from Nagpur taking oath as CM of the most congressi of states." Similarly, Shreekant Shetty ‏@Sh07509514 tweeted, "And from Nagpur, at that! :-) RT @centerofright: The state where RSS was born finally gets it's @BJP4India CM in @Dev_Fadnavis".


But Augustine Correa ‏@TalkOrTweets tweeted a complaint, "With a CM from there, promise of separate Vidarbha & RSS HQ, swearing in ceremony should have been in Nagpur, winter capital of the state".


And on a lighter note, Abhijit Beeblebrox ‏@BabuMoshaaye tweeted, "Do you pledge to fulfil your duties as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra? Devendra Fadnavis: Hao".
