We’re almost to 2015’s halfway mark, which means the flow of 2016 models increases from an intermittent spurt to a ragin’, full-on firehose stream. Hyundai slips into the flow with the 2016 Elantra, adding features and a Value Edition, which bundles in a suite of oft-requested features while saving you money!
Starting at $17,975, the Elantra line adds a few features: The Limited-trim cars now come standard with push-button start and dual-zone climate control, while Sport cars lose the standard leather seats and sunroof to push the price downward.
The new Value Edition, featuring a name which is not as good a celebration of frugality as “Dodge D150 Miser” or “Chevrolet Thriftmaster“, offers unique 16-inch wheels, a power sunroof, a leather-wrapped tilt/telescope wheel, heated front chairs, push-button start, and side-mirror turn signals. Just because you’re careful with your coin doesn’t mean that you don’t appreciate a dash of zazz, and Hyundai knows it. As such, they throw in chrome beltline molding and aluminum door sills.
Engine choices remain the 1.8-liter naturally aspirated, 145-horse four-banger and a 2.0 that makes 173 horsepower. The 1.8 is the standard stuff on the SE, Value Edition, and Limited trims, while the 2.0 is included on Sport models. Six-speed manual and automatic transmissions are available.
Now, Hyundainauts armed with such knowledge, sally forth and elant with elan!
