Ford is adding 156,000 more cars to last week’s recall covering faulty door latches, the company said today. It’s the latest in a series of door-latch problems that have affected more than 1.1 million Ford models within the past year.

There are now 456,440 vehicles in the U.S. that have pawl springs in the latching mechanism that can break. This can make it impossible to shut the door or could result in the door swinging open suddenly while driving. Ford said it knew of two injuries from doors “bouncing back” when owners closed them and one accident resulting from an unlatched door smacking another car while parking. The 2011 Fiesta and more 2013 Fusion and Lincoln MKZ models from earlier production runs are now included with the previously recalled 2012–2014 Fiesta and 2013–2014 Fusion and MKZ.

Dealers will replace all four door latches at a later date. Earlier this week, Ford recalled another 554,314 cars in the U.S. for a variety of problems with fuel pumps, heat shields, steering gear, and parking lamps, some of which also include the Fiesta, Fusion, and MKZ.
