Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party calling it a party of 'big talkers' and accusing it of 'backstabbing' the people of Delhi in the last assembly elections.
Modi was speaking at a rally in CBD grounds near Karkardooma court complex. He will address three more rallies in the Capital - one on Sunday in Dwarka and two rallies on February 3 and 4 at Rohini and south Delhi.
"A year ago the people of Delhi voted with some dreams, but those very people betrayed you and led you to instability," Modi told the gathering.
The PM said Delhi is the focal point this elections and will reflect how India will be viewed by the world.
"Delhi needs a person who can lead from the front. Kiran Bedi is the right person for the job and for Delhi," he said.
Bedi, he said, knows every bylane of the city and has been a part of its history.
Modi also trained his guns at Congress and said he has come to reinstate Delhi and fix the damage that was caused in the last 15 years.
He enumerated the Bharatiya Janata Party's programmes for the people and said his party is dedicated to serving the poor.
"By the time we celebrate the 75th year of Independent India, we will ensure that all slums are replaced by cemented houses," he said.
Modi's attack comes on a day the AAP released its manifesto promising an all-round development for the Capital.
The BJP has pulled out all the stops by deploying 120 MPs for its campaign for the February 7 polls, and amid surveys claiming the party was neck and neck with a resurgent AAP.
Volunteers from Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh-affiliated bodies are also set to tap voters in their homes, parents in schools, joggers in parks and bombard them on email and WhatsApp in the coming days.
Following intelligence inputs of terror threats during Delhi elections, security has been stepped up for the upcoming rallies, an official said.
Over 5,000 personnel will be deployed in and around the grounds where Modi will address party rallies. This includeS the officials of Special Protection Group (SPG), who look after the prime minister's security, the official said.
SPG and Delhi Police have made an elaborate arrangements at the rally venues.
According to an official of Delhi Police, three-layered check points will be set up for every visitor at the venue. Visitors will be first checked at least 50 metres away from the ground. The second and third check points will be at the entry point.
Apart from manual checking, the visitors will be checked through hand held metal detectors, door frame metal detectors and baggage scanner machines.
The SPG officials will take over the charge on stage, an hour before, from where the prime minister will address supporters. A limited numbers of leaders will accompany Modi while he is delivering his speech.
The grounds are kept under the watch of the CCTV cameras. Snipers including personnel of the elite National Security Guard will be deployed at the highrise building near the grounds.
Police have requested the leaders to advise their supporters not to park their vehicles near the rally venues.
Delhi will go the polls on February 7 and the results will be announced on February 10.
