Krishnagar: BJP national secretary Siddharth Nath Singh on Saturday demanded that the CBI should question Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in connection with the multi-crore Saradha scam saying there should not be different yardsticks for two people.
"CBI should interrogate Mamata Banerjee because the probe agency can't have two different yardsticks for two people. There was a meeting between Saradha chief Sudipta Sen, Banerjee and Mukul Roy in Delo in Darjeeling district, which Roy had publicly admitted. "If the CBI called Mukul Roy for interrogation, then they should also call Banerjee under the same rule," Singh, who is in-charge of the party's state affairs said.
Stating that "dissidence in the TMC is growing every passing day," the BJP leader said the party would not induct any Saradha scam-tainted leader when asked about the possibility of Roy joining the saffron party.
"CBI should interrogate Mamata Banerjee because the probe agency can't have two different yardsticks for two people," BJP national secretary Siddharth Nath Singh said.
Referring to the February 13 bye-election to Bongaon Lok Sabha and Krishnagunj Assembly seats, he said development, Saradha scam, corruption and citizenship to Bangladeshi refugees would be the issues highlighted by the party.
Singh said the Narendra Modi government extended all help to Bengal, which was proven by the fact that two Union ministers had attended the Bengal global business summit in Kolkata and over Rs 70,000 crore investment was made by the Centre in different projects.
