KOLKATA: Defying the official party line which says that the BJP has been using the CBI to finish off Trinamool Congress politically, top party leader Mukul Roy told media on Saturday that "If necessary, I shall go to the CBI for another hundred times if they summon me again. The party has already announced it's political stand about the BJP and CBI, but I am giving my personal view. The CBI is probing the Saradha scam and had interrogated me. If necessary, I shall go to them for more than hundred times if they want me to interrogate further." Roy told media before attending the party's extended core committee meeting held at Mamata Banerjee's Kalighat residence.

Interestingly, Mamata who addressed the core committee, made it clear before the party leaders that "We will have to fight against the BJP which is using the CBI to finish us politically." Roy was present at the meeting when Mamata announced the party line and branded BJP as their main political enemy.

Mamata had called the meeting on Saturday mainly to discuss strategies for April's civic elections and by-elections to one lok sabha seat and one assembly seat which will take place on February 13. But the meeting for poll preparations, had converted into an exercise for crisis management. Trinamool Congress is in a very bad situation after Roy deposed before the CBI and later announced that he will co-operate with the CBI which is probing the multi-crore chit fund scam. Mukul also told the media that he, like the CBI was very keen to know where crores of Saradha money had gone.

"I want CBI to unearth the mystery behind the scam. Lakhs of poor people have lost their hard-earned money by depositing those with the company. These people now want justice. These people now want to get back their money which they had earned after hard toil. I also want them to get back their money. I will co-operate with the CBI to unearth the mystery," Roy told the media on Friday after facing four-hour long interrogation by the CBI.

Roy's statements and observations have kept the ruling Trinamool Congresss, Mamata Banerjee in particular in a fix. Senior party leaders have no clue about what Mukul had told the CBI investigators and whether he had given any specific information to the probe agency about involvement of key party leaders in the scam.Since senior party leaders are dark about this, speculations are there within the ruling party that Roy had named many senior leaders in order to protect his own skin. Interestingly, Mukul did not visit Trinamool Bhavan, the state party headquarters, after his interrogation by the CBI officials. No senior leader of the party also met him on Friday after he was freed by the CBI.

Interestingly, Mamata reportedly, called up Roy late on Friday evening and talked to her most trusted leader. But it is not known whether Mamata wanted to know from Roy whether he had named any senior party leader to the CBI during his long interrogation which had lasted for about four hours.
