Several hundred yards away from one of the premier automotive events in the country—The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering—lies yet another bounty of head-turning machines. Yes, it’s The Quail parking lot, home to a whole range of beautiful exotics, rare classics, and everything else in between.
Unlike the multimillion-dollar masterpieces on display within The Quail’s hallowed gates, the gems you’ll find scattered among the Camrys and the F-150s are not garage queens. Their owners see fit to use them as intended, at least during the festivities of Monterey Car Week.
We scoured the grounds this year and found plenty of cars to get excited about: a classic Mercedes-Benz SL, a Volvo P1800, a Ferrari F50, a Honda kei-car trucklet, and more. Flip through the gallery to see some of the standouts found beyond the hedges of The Quail itself.
