It’s been nearly a decade since Lexus has competed in any form of motorsport. Back in the early 2000s, the luxury brand saw success when its engines powered race-winning prototypes in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Championship Series. Lexus used its time away from the grid to build out its F performance division with a stable of V8-powered beasts. Included in that lot is the RC F which has been transformed into the RC F GT3 race car that will be piloted by former IMSA champion Scott Pruett and prepped to race in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship for the 2017 season. Above, watch the first installment of a three-part series, “Lexus Returns to Racing,” that details exactly what it took to get the GT3 ready for the track.
