On January 28, the 55^th running of the 24 Hours of Daytona will commence, and the 2017 season of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship will officially begin. As you’ve learned in the previous two installments of this three-part series, “The Road to Daytona,” Lexus has been preparing for its comeback to sports-car racing in the United States by building a new team and transforming the Lexus RC F into the RC F GT3 race car. Even though the team’s first test is at one of the most grueling and challenging races on the calendar, it helps to remember that Lexus once won the 24 Hours of Daytona three years in a row. So no pressure, then. (Yeah, right.) As the clock ticks ever closer to race day, watch 3GT Racing and its four drivers—Scott Pruett, Sage Karam, Jack Hawksworth, and Robert Alon—get themselves and the RC F GT3 ready for its first competition.
