We’ll forgive you if you missed the wide-body Dodge Challenger SRTs that briefly appear in the trailer for The Fate of the Furious, the eighth installment in Universal Pictures’ The Fast and the Furious franchise that’s due in theaters April 14, 2017. Between vehicular explosions, various ass kicking, and the apparent attempt to draw and quarter a classic Plymouth GTX, it’s easy to miss the flared bodywork surrounding the wheel wells of the multiple Challengers driven by the Toretto “family” in the upcoming film.

It’s an open secret that Dodge is working on a wide-body Challenger SRT Hellcat that reportedly will take the name Hellcat ADR. Expected to wear bodywork similar to that seen on the Dodge Challenger GT AWD concept that debuted at last year’s SEMA show, the ADR is anticipated to use the same 707-hp supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 and rear-wheel-drive configuration found on the standard Hellcat.

The Dodge Challenger GT AWD Concept is among the Mopar-modified

Although the Challengers shown in The Fate of the Furious trailer, below, wear fender flares that appear to be lifted directly from the Challenger GT AWD concept (side-marker cutouts and all), Dodge spokesperson Dan Reid told us that any relation the vehicles featured in Fast 8 have with future Dodge products is coincidental and the result of “creative license” by the studio.

Nevertheless, it appears the gearheads in charge of building the vehicles appearing in the film may have given us our best look yet at what the wide-body Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat ADR may look like—even if simply by chance.
