State BJP chief Laxmikant Vajpayee that Singh enjoyed lucrative posts in both SP and BSP governments, and the saffron party will put all tainted politicians and bureaucrats behind bars if it comes to power in 2017.
"Yadav Singh is a classic example, which has unearthed the 'tacit understanding' that exists between the BSP and the SP. We will take this issue up before the polls. Now the trend in UP is that any official who gets involved in a scam is rewarded - the bigger the scam, the more plum the post," he told TOI.
Vajpayee added: "Tainted officers enjoy a free hand in the state. People are fed up with the deteriorating law and order as well as the large scale corruption in Uttar Pradesh. They now want a change. If voted to power, we will put all the corrupt officials and politicians behind bars." Senior state BJP leaders said that not only bureaucrats, but even industrialists, who were close to BSP when the party was in power, "are enjoying" a gala time in SP regime as well.
"I wish corruption in UP could come to an end. When the Akhilesh government came to power, I had handed over to the new regime documents which contained the names of the ghost companies of Anand Kumar, former CM Mayawati's younger brother, and Yadav Singh. But instead of initiating action against him, he was promoted," senior BJP leader Kirit Somaiya said.
In fact, Somaiya was the first politician to point out in December 2011 the alleged money laundering by Anand Kumar and Yadav Singh. He had then also highlighted how the money was diverted to buy plots in Noida through a number of dubious companies. "We have been demanding a probe into all companies linked to the alleged Noida scam by a special investigation team. We have also demanded action against 'friends and relatives' of tainted politicians and bureaucrats. But the Akhilesh government has not taken any action in this regard," he added.
