The Nissan Armada welcomes a fourth trim level to its lineup for the 2018 model year. Perched atop the SL, SV, and Platinum is the new-for-2018 Platinum Reserve. The $62,985 model builds on the content of the $59,985 Armada Platinum.
Along with Platinum-level features such as adaptive cruise control, heated and cooling front seats, a rear-seat entertainment system, and a camera-fed rearview mirror that is new for 2018 (Intelligent Rear View Mirror, or I-RVM, in Nissan parlance), the Platinum Reserve features additional niceties such as open-pore wood trim and two-tone leather seats embossed with “Platinum Reserve” on the seatbacks. Outside, the Armada Platinum Reserve is distinguished by trim-specific chrome on the grille, door handles, and mirrors, as well as a set of 20-inch chrome wheels. All-wheel drive is a $2900 option.
The 2018 Nissan Armada Platinum Reserve goes on sale at the end of October. It narrows the distance between Nissan’s biggest SUV and its mechanically similar twin, the Infiniti QX80, which currently starts at $64,845. The arrival of the Armada Platinum Reserve may signal that the updated QX80, which is expected to borrow its design theme from the QX80 Monograph concept, is going to bear an even higher price when it goes on sale sometime before the end of the decade.
