Lexus has added some spice to its entry-level sports sedan with the Sriracha IS, and yes, as its name implies, this is a Sriracha-hot-sauce-themed IS.
The Sriracha IS brings the sweet and spicy flavor of Huy Fong Foods’ signature sauce to the automotive marketplace. Wearing a coat of red paint that has been mixed with actual Sriracha hot sauce, the Sriracha IS also includes Sriracha-bottle-cap-green accents on the grille surround, brake calipers, and exterior mirrors.
Inside, the Sriracha IS tingles with enhancements such as a steering wheel molded from what Lexus describes as a Sriracha-like liquid, seats embroidered with Sriracha-inspired accents including the rooster logo, temperature settings for the heated seats and climate controls that go all the way up to “Sriracha hot,” and a driving-mode knob that includes a Sriracha setting in place of the car’s Sport setting.
Like racing, Sriracha is life, and Sriracha lovers aren’t looking just for some sort of style statement. No, they want to taste the sauce’s delicious blend of chili peppers, sugar, salt, garlic, and distilled vinegar. So Lexus fits the Sriracha IS with a key fob with Remote Emergency Sriracha Activation, which dispenses Sriracha from a nozzle located at the top of the fob. Oh, yeah, there are also 43 bottles of Sriracha stacked in the car’s trunk, because who needs to carry luggage when you have Sriracha?
The Lexus Sriracha IS brings tears to our eyes—and not the kind of tears you get from a particularly spicy batch of Sriracha. Fortunately, there’s no indication that Lexus actually has plans to put the Sriracha IS into production.
