The Honda Pilot crossover doesn’t look, drive, or feel any different for 2017. But it is a bit more connected than before with the newly available compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for its touchscreen infotainment system. Buyers will shell out a bit more money for the 2017 Pilot, as prices rise by $200 to $300, depending on trim level.
The smartphone mirroring features are standard on all Pilot models except for the base LX, which makes do with a smaller 5.0-inch touchscreen. EX and higher trim levels have an 8.0-inch screen in the center stack, which now has a different coating meant to minimize fingerprints. Unfortunately, the frustrating volume-control slider remains—let’s hope a volume knob like the one on the new 2017 CR-V comes to the Pilot sooner rather than later.
Pilot sticks with its four trim levels: the $31,475 LX; the $33,910 EX; the $37,335 EX-L; the $42,550 Touring; and the top-dog, $47,950 Elite. As before, all-wheel drive is $1800 extra on all trims except for the Elite, which has it standard. The Elite and Touring also come standard with the Honda Sensing package, which includes all manner of active-safety features (it’s a $1000 option on the EX and EX-L), a rear-seat entertainment system ($1600 extra on the EX-L), and built-in navigation ($1000 extra on the EX-L).
Oh, and we can’t forget that the White Diamond Pearl exterior color can now be combined with a black interior, regardless of trim level (it was previously only paired with beige upholstery). If that seals the deal for you, know that the 2017 Pilot officially hits dealerships on November 7.
