For AMG aficionados, it wasn’t easy to swallow the loss of the raucous naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V-8 offered in a number of hot-rod Benzes, the last being the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG coupe. Now that it’s history, how to keep the fans pumped?
How about a new Mercedes-AMG C63 coupe (note the new nomenclature) with the AMG GT’s twin-turbocharged V-8, clad in unique bodywork that underscores the brand’s special position within the Daimler portfolio? This teaser video shows off an AMG coupe that should be lower, wider, and a lot more bad-ass than the C-class coupe it is based on.
We know the new two-door C63 will share its engine with the sedan, which means 469 or 503 horsepower depending on its state of tune. It will come with AMG’s seven-speed automatic, and it will be fitted with rear-wheel drive.
Visible in the clip are the car’s enhanced bodywork, with entirely new fenders, an aggressive front end, and four-tip exhausts. Oh, and the sound track, which sounds glorious. Stay tuned for the official reveal later this week.
