Splashed on Ford tuner Roush’s website is a quote from founder Jack Roush that states: “Between a road car and a race car there is a Roush car.” Perhaps between a Roush car and a road car, there’s something like a more-or-less stock F-150 pickup with a bunch of cosmetic accessories. Roush is introducing a new 2015 Ford F-150–based creation that’s neither car nor particularly racy, but it is certainly a truck, and every bit a Roush, as the numerous badges, stickers, and plaques not-so-subtly indicate.
Indeed, Roush’s web page for the 2015 Ford F-150 uses the word “Roush” 46 times, from mention of the Roush lettering debossed into each of the four side-exit exhaust tips to the Roush banner across the top of the windshield to the Roush rocker-panel stickers to . . . you get it, there’s a lot of Roush branding all over the F-150. What isn’t on the F-150, however, is any meaningful power upgrade; the Roush F-150 kit is mostly cosmetic stuff, with only a Fox coil-over suspension and the aforementioned exhaust setup potentially contributing to any improvement in the F-150 driving experience.
The whole kit and kaboodle, which also includes 20-inch wheels, special floor mats, a new grille and front bumper, fender flares, marker lights (although the truck isn’t wide enough to require them), and stickers for the hood, windshield, tailgate, and body sides, will set you back $10,600 and require dealer installation. If you’re a huge Roush fan, this likely won’t deter you. But if you’re an F-150 owner looking for a tad more performance from your truck, there’s likely better places to stash ten grand.
