Auditors waiting for discom papers, CAG tells Kejriwal - Times of India

NEW DELHI: The comptroller and auditor general (CAG) has told chief minister Arvind Kejriwal that his auditors were still waiting for a long list of documents related to power distribution in Delhi so that they could complete their audit. The power audit was ordered by Kejriwal during his first short-lived chief ministership last year.

Kejriwal called on the CAG, S K Sharma, on Wednesday. During the courtesy meeting, the CM asked Sharma about the progress in the audit of discoms.

According to sources, the CAG said his officers had handed over a long list of files required to complete their audit. These files are mostly related to the three private distribution companies—BSES Yamuna Power, BSES Rajdhani and Tata Power.

Power minister Satyendra Jain later told reporters, "There is no time limit for the audit. We told him that we will cooperate with them."

Asked by Kejriwal when the CAG was hoping to submit the final report, he was told that the high court has stayed the federal auditor from submitting it. Also, he said the audit could be done better if all the documents were provided.

The CAG's request had been sent to the LG as well as the Delhi government. However, the documents are yet to be provided.

"The CAG told the Delhi CM that, despite those shortcomings, the audit has made some progress," a source said.

The CAG also shared his concern about the rising air pollution in the city with Kejriwal.
