The bomb exploded on a footpath outside Coconut Grove, a popular restaurant, when the entire street was decked up for the festive season.
Reddi said that there was a "general threat perception in view of the festive season".
Allaying fears of multiple blasts, home minister K J George said, "It was a small blast. There is nothing to panic. Everything is under control. Our entire force is on the ground."
Minister for law and justice Sadananda Gowda described the incident as "very unfortunate" and requested the locals "not to panic".
