Enormous task ahead, says SIT black money probe panel chief MB Shah - IBNLive

New Delhi: A day after the government constituted a Special Investigation Team to bring back black money, retired SC Judge Justice MB Shah, who is heading the SIT said the committee has an enormous task ahead of it.


"The task is enormous. It will take some time. We will have to find out where black money is lying particularly in foreign countries. Let there be a notification then I will take over. There will be consultation with members then we will proceed," Justice Shah said.


He also added that agencies like the RAW, IB and Tax departments will assist him on the task. "I'm sure they must have already done some work and homework in this. Their cooperation is very necessary. This was pending for last two years. Court had passed specific orders which is now being implemented," he said adding that he is not apprehensive ahead of the massive task.


On the first day after taking charge, the new government constituted a special investigative team (SIT) headed by Justice MB Shah to unearth black money, including in the case of Hasan Ali. The SIT also comprises of another retired Supreme Court judge Arijit Pasayat as vice-chairman.


"In the first Cabinet of the new government in the light of the directions of the SC, we have constituted an SIT for unearthing black money. This was an important issue for us," Law and Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said after a one-and-a-half-hour Cabinet meeting.
