Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday urged states not to include him in textbooks saying the life story of living individuals should not be included as part of the school curriculum.
The PM's tweets come amid reports that some BJP-ruled states want to include his life story in school textbooks to inspire children.
"India has a rich history of several stalwarts who made India what it is today. Young minds should read about these greats & emulate them," Modi posted on Twitter.
Am reading in the news that some states want to include Narendra Modi's life struggles as a part of their school curriculum.

Gujarat education minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama had on Thursday said the state had decided to include leadership lessons from the life of Modi in school syllabus from next year.
Chudasma had said that a process had been initiated to form a committee to prepare the final list of events to be included.
"These events will be included in the syllabus of primary schools, such as fifth, sixth and seventh standard. We will form a committee to prepare the list of all the important and inspiring events to be included in syllabus. Since this initiative is at a primary stage, the new syllabus will come into effect only in 2015-16," he added.
In a similar case, Madhya Pradesh school education minister Paras Jain had on Sunday proposed that lessons from the newly-sworn in PM's life be included in school curriculum to "inspire" students.
"We have received suggestions from various quarters that a life-sketch of Modiji be taught in the schools, to inspire students from early age," he told PTI.
If incorporated, these lessons would be taught from standard three to standard six, the minister said.
Earlier, Rajasthan education minister Kali Charan Saraf had also said he was planning to include chapters on Modi and former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's life in the school curriculum.
