MTM Audi RS5

Presenting MTM’s 525-hp Audi RS5 R—not to be confused with ABT Sportsline’s 530-hp Audi RS5-R. Note the five-horse difference between the two modified Audis, as well as the absence of a hyphen in the MTM car’s name. Big difference.

There isn’t much of a difference beneath the two German-tuned Audis’ hoods, either. MTM says it bumped the RS5’s horsepower from 450 (stock) to 525 and torque from 443 lb-ft to 516 using computer tweaks and a “thermodynamic” package, which we assume involves revisions to the car’s intake and exhaust systems as well as enhanced intercoolers for the twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V-6 engine.

The net result of MTM’s changes? A claimed 3.6-second zero-to-62-mph sprint—exactly the same number quoted by ABT Sportsline for its RS5-R. Visually, the RS5 R—remember, no hyphen!—sets itself apart. Where ABT’s tuned Audi is visually low key, the MTM wears wild red-tinged 21-inch forged-aluminum wheels (or available full-red wheels!) and bright-red body stripes. The good news is that if you live someplace MTM or ABT Sportsline serves, there is no shortage of options for how to bump your Audi RS5 beyond 500 horsepower.
