Mercedes-AMG’s charismatic, hand-built, 4.0-liter V-8 carries over largely unchanged, producing 469 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque in the C63 and 503 horses and 516 lb-ft in the C63 S models. The AMG Speedshift MCT nine-speed automatic, with its galvanized steering-wheel paddle shifters and wet start-off clutch, replaces the previous seven-speed unit. Mercedes promises sharper, quicker gear changes in all drive modes, up to six of which are available for C63 S models (Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Race, and Individual.) The transmission also features a fully manual mode that will hold gears and not upshift at redline. We look forward to seeing just how much quicker the C63 may be with this new transmission; Mercedes says the C63 S coupe can hit 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, but we expect to shave a tenth or two off that time as we’ve already recorded a 3.8-second run in a 2017 C63 S coupe. </span>
