A couple of years back, Kia enticed the automotive world with its sport-tastic GT4 Stinger concept. Almost 30 years ago, GM utterly befuddled everyone with the Pontiac Stinger concept, which featured, among other things, a pair of Dustbusters and a garden hose. A garden hose! Chevy, of course, offered the classic “stinger” hood on its third-generation Corvettes, and Mopar? Now Mopar has jumped into the venomous fray with a large yellow pickup.
If you were shopping for a new Ram and wanted a yellow example, you were limited to the Lone Star State-only Yellow Rose of Texas edition. But now, if a crew-cab Ram 1500‘s your bag and have $43,340 burning a hole in your dungarees, the new limited-edition Stinger Yellow Ram 1500 Sport can be yours. Hitting Ram outlets right about now, the vespid-themed pickup is available as either a 4×4 or 4×2, both carrying a 395-hp 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 backed by an eight-speed transmission.
Four-wheel-drive models ride on 20-inch wheels, while RWD trucks get a set of baller-tastic 22s. Dual chrome-tipped pipes are part of the deal, as is the Challenger-esque vented sport hood. Inside, the black cabin features dark-chrome and yellow accents, including body-color stitching. Uconnect with navigation and a rear-vew camera are also standard equipment.
Those who miss the old Rumble Bee of 2004-2005 are undoubtedly donning their vintage Dodge Boys jackets and scurrying off toward their local Ram dealer as you read this. If you hope to join them, you’d best get moving, too.
