If the rear-wheel-drive AE86 is the Blake Griffin of Toyota Corollas, then its front-wheel-drive successor is the model’s Taylor Griffin. Less famous and talented than his brother, Taylor Griffin still has ball skills good enough that he was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in 2009. Much like Taylor, the sixth-generation Corolla simply gets overshadowed by its legendary predecessor (or sibling). It shouldn’t, and this 1989 Corolla GT-S for sale on eBay is proof.
A one-owner car that’s traveled less than 24,500 miles over the course of its lifetime, this red coupe looks like it just drove off of the showroom floor of Lou Fusz Toyota in Saint Louis, Missouri. Being a GT-S model, this Japanese two-door comes with Toyota’s high-revving, twin-cam 4A-GE engine—the same engine found in the famous AE86 GT-S of the mid-’80s and the first-generation MR2.
But enough about the car’s stats, because we know what you’re really here for—the Corolla porn:
Check out those pop-up headlights. So ’80s.
You can practically hear “Love Shack” blasting through the OE cassette player.
The ribbing on the shift boot makes swapping between the GT-S’s five forward gears that much more pleasurable.
This is where the GT-S’s high-strung horses live.
In case you forget you’re in a GT-S, this red rocket includes a voltmeter and an oil pressure gauge.
With a “Buy it Now” price of $10,900 or best offer, this classic Corolla is certainly priced on the high side. But then again, when’s the last time you saw a clean, low-mileage 1989 Corolla GT-S for sale? Head over to eBay to make your offer.
