Fresh from the “why didn’t we think of that” file comes a post-holiday video from Nissan, in which the automaker demonstrates the GT-R sports car‘s innate Christmas tree “un-decorating” ability. What we mean to say is, Nissan strapped a decorated Christmas tree to a rotating stand, wrapped a strand of lights around the thing and tied the loose end to the ass end of a GT-R, then dropped the hammer. The genius results? The tree chucks its decorations in an instant—no sap-covered fingers, pokes from wire hooks, or dried-out needles stuck in your clothing!
Cleverly, the clip also shows off the GT-R’s launch control mode, a widget we never tire of trying out for ourselves each time we get behind the wheel of Nissan’s twin-turbocharged, all-wheel-drive monster. The video could also be construed as bold, given how so many people up and lost their minds over plain red Starbucks cups. Rapid Christmas-tree undecorating before New Years? It could be seen as another example of the war on Christmas. Or it could just be high-horsepower fun. We invite you to watch the clip for yourself below:
