Have you ever wondered what Santa’s sleigh might look like were it inspired by Mercedes-Benz’s G-class, F 015 concept, or its classic Silver Arrow race car? We haven’t either, but Benz has provided answers anyway and fired up an online configurator for sleighs. the interactive builder includes those three models, as well as 360-degree views, AMG options, and soothing holiday music.
Although pricing for Santa’s Silver Arrow, Santa’s F 015, and Santa’s G-class is forthcoming, the configurator does offer users a selection of paint colors, three runner options (Exclusive, Avante-Garde, and AMG), and three distinct powertrain options. Those would be 4MATIC (Benz’s designation for four-wheel drive, which here includes four reindeer), Hybrid (two reindeer and two burly horses, magic and plug-in properties unknown), and AMG (four red-eyed, black-pelted reindeer). Individual options include the Safety Package Plus (angelic oversight), a navigation system (the North Star), and an Intelligent Light System (an elf holding an LED lantern). It’s all very clever and chuckle-worthy, and it’s an excellent segue into the holidays. Well, so long as you ignore the somewhat foreboding “End Configuration” button that’s rendered as a candy-cane-striped whip. Hey, maybe the elves like to get saucy now and again.
We built out Santa’s G-class with AMG runners, the AMG reindeer, and the Safety Package Plus—and check out the spare tire/wreath!—although the temptation to outfit the autonomous F 015 with AMG gear was tempting. Head over to Benz’s Christmas site to try out the configurator for yourself. We’d suggest turning on your sound, for the audio effects that coincide with changes you make are nearly as fun as the visuals.
