Clarkson's Last Top Gear Lap Will Be in One of These

We knew it had to happen eventually, and now it’s here: Jeremy Clarkson has tweeted that he’ll soon take his very last lap of the Top Gear track. This really makes it feel like the end of an era.

It seems to us that this is probably Clarkson’s final obligation as Top Gear host. In March, the star offered up a ride around the Top Gear track for bidding at a charity auction in London. Occurring right in the middle of the “fracas” surrounding Clarkson punching a producer, the outspoken star took the opportunity to rip into his former employer the BBC.

“I’ll drive somebody around in whatever I can get hold of. I’m sacked so it’s probably an Austin Maestro. So who knows? But anyway it will be my last ever lap of the Top Gear track,” he said before opening bidding on the opportunity.

“The BBC have fucked themselves,” he’s quoted as saying on stage. “It was a great show and they fucked it up.” Watch clandestine video of Clarkson recorded during the charity event here.

It seems like Clarkson ended up with a much better set of vehicular choices than the Austin Maestro he predicted. Which would you choose? We’d go straight for the LaFerrari.

Update: It is finished.
