Hey, Gerald McHotshoe! Wouldn’t you like to go GT4 racing in your Cayman GT4 Clubsport? To feel the proud burn of badge-promised motorsport authenticity? Hold onto your crullers, champ, because Porsche and Manthey Racing have teamed up to make your aspirations a reality! The result of the partnership is the Porsche GT4 Clubsport MR.
The recipe? Take one GT4 Clubsport and add parts. Manthey’s upgrade package includes carbon-fiber doors, front trunk lid, a polycarbonate windshield, and an optional lightweight battery, which shave 88 pounds from the 2866-pound Clubsport. A suspension kit with linear bearings and an adjustable anti-roll bar help to further optimize the car for competition. You also get a bigger wing, because who would make do with a smaller wing when a larger unit can be had?
As a refresher, the GT4 Clubsport racer already comes with what the Germans call a “spartaneous” interior, a PDK gearbox for maximum shift-quickness, 18-inch forged aluminum wheels, and an optional 26.5-gallon fuel tank.
Porsche Motorsport North America is handling the distribution for the kit, and the upgraded Clubsport will be eligible for competition in Pirelli World Challenge GTS and the IMSA Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge’s GS class. Elsewhere in the world, Clubsport MRs fit SRO homologation rules, allowing participation in races with a GT4 category. We don’t have word on pricing for the kit, but given that the standard Clubsport nearly doubles a street-legal Cayman GT4’s base price, don’t figure on shelling out a mere pittance for the privilege of making your GT4 a real GT4 car. Expect to spend, you know, real dollars.
