Chevrolet’s refreshed-for-2017 Trax subcompact crossover goes on sale this fall and it officially has a price. Starting with the base LS trim level, the ’17 Trax can be had for $21,895 in front-wheel-drive guise, or just $700 more than last year despite dapper new duds and a mildly updated interior. The other upside, beyond limited price increases across the board, is that the more stylish Trax no longer induces narcoleptic reactions among bystanders.

Outside of its refreshed look and nominally dearer base price, the Trax’s new Premier trim level is the only other headline-maker. The Premier replaces last year’s LTZ as the range-topping trim, while the mid-level LT carries on. Prices for those models creep up slightly, as well, with the LT’s MSRP rising by $255 to $23,795 and the Premier’s ask $26,995, jumping $870 versus its predecessor. As before, adding all-wheel drive to any trim costs $1500. Pricing for specific features, particularly the optional 7.0-inch touchscreen with integrated Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionality—as well as the newly available blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, forward-collision warning, and lane-departure warning safety systems—is still to come, but we expect the whole lot to be standard on the Premier. Meanwhile, the Trax’s turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine and six-speed automatic go unchanged.
