Ferrari is introducing a new Handling Speciale (HS) package for its California T that promises to turn up the wattage on the brand’s most affordable and accessible model—much in the same way the Handling GTE package did for the 599GTB Fiorano back in 2010.
For the California T, the HS option includes retuned magnetorheological dampers and revised spring rates (16 percent stiffer up front, 19 percent at the rear), as well as revised programming for the transmission and the traction-control system; Ferrari claims that the changes over the standard car are most significant when the car’s chassis-adjusting manettino dial is set to Sport mode.
Also part of the HS package is a new exhaust system that provides a more vocal engine sound. Visual tip-offs to the presence of the HS option are matte-black tailpipes, a matte-gray grille and rear diffuser, and a plaque in the cockpit. The HS-equipped California T makes its debut in March at the Geneva auto show.
