We are moving Jaguar’s F-type range-topping SVR model from the “tentative” category to “officially happening,” for the automaker has confirmed that the SVR will debut at the 2016 Geneva auto show. As rumored to be the case, the car will be capable of 200 mph—at least in coupe form—and Jaguar also will build a convertible model.
The SVR badge is worn only by Jaguar’s hardest-core performance models, the automaker having dropped its R-S and R-S GT nomenclature last year. Details surrounding the F-type SVR’s powertrain, chassis upgrades, and pricing won’t be released until later this month, but expect a bump in horsepower and attendant bolstering of the F-type’s brakes and aerodynamics for its 200-mph mission. Happily, we won’t need to wait long to sample the SVR, as it goes on sale this summer as a 2017 model.
