Slim Englishmen wishing their new Miatas would hug them tighter can now order the Recaro Limited Edition, the first special edition ND Miata…in the world.
Jeremy Clarkson wouldn’t fit without a few choice expletives if he drove one of these 600 roadsters, all of which will be sold in the United Kingdom. Available in either silver or red, the Recaro Limited Edition does indeed have a set of Recaro leather seats with microsuede inserts, red piping, and red stitching. Mazda applied more red-stitched microsuede to the dashboard, and wove more red thread through the shifter and handbrake trim. There are also aluminum pedals, special floor mats, unique 17-inch wheels, black mirrors, and a little plaque for that extra-warm feeling.
Aside from those features, this Miata is essentially our top-level Grand Touring trim with a rear lip spoiler and the Appearance package, which adds more aggressive front, rear, and side aero bits. In the U.K., the price converts to just under $37,000. The Recaro won’t be coming to America, and with right-hand drive, you wouldn’t want it to, anyway. Instead, ask your lucky passenger for hugs, or better still, grab a Miata Cup racer.
