2016 Nissan Altima Officially Revealed: New Look, New Model

Nissan is expanding a recall to include 41,388 more cars with faulty gas-tank seals, according to filings posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

In total, there are 46,846 cars affected—the list includes 2013–2016 Altima 3.5 models and the 2016 Maxima—since Nissan announced the first recall in August. Only V-6 models are included. The H-seal between the fuel tank and sending unit may be incorrectly seated, which can cause a fuel leak during a crash, Nissan said. Dealers have already begun installing a retainer ring to “prevent potential H-seal movement” during a crash.

Initially, Nissan recalled 5458 Maxima sedans from the 2016 model year for this problem. No related accidents or injuries have been reported.
