Here are the top 10 developments:

  1. Cab services that operate through web-based apps may be banned in Delhi. After Uber was banned on Monday, similar cab services like Ola, Taxi4Sure and TaxiPixi, which also operate through apps, could be banned next.

  2. Last night, the Delhi government put out an official list of radio cab services that have license to operate in Delhi - Easy Cab, Mega Cab, Meru Cab, Chanson Cab, Yo Cab and Air Cab.

  3. All others, the order said, were "prohibited from providing such services in the NCT of Delhi to public till they get license/permission from the Transport Department."

  4. The Mumbai police will conduct a census of all cab services and check all drivers for police verification.

  5. "All drivers have to get police verification and we will maintain a database," Mumbai police chief Rakesh Maria told NDTV.

  6. Rules in Mumbai don't require a cab driver to get police verification. Mr Maria said there was no move to ban Uber and other app-based cabs in India's financial capital.

  7. In Delhi, cabs that work on web-based apps are not registered with the state Transport Department. Only radio taxi services are registered under a special scheme, so they have safeguards that the others don't.

  8. The police revealed that Uber driver Shiv Kumar Yadav, arrested for the rape of a woman passenger in Delhi, was also arrested in 2011 and jailed for seven months on charges of raping a woman but was later acquitted.

  9. On Friday, Yadav allegedly found the woman sleeping and parked the car a few km from her home in North Delhi. He then allegedly attacked her and threatened to use an iron road if she spoke to the police.

  10. The woman has told the police that she sent an SMS to her friend telling her about the rape, but the message went to the cab driver by mistake.
