Hazaribag: Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Saturday described Friday's terrorist violence in Kashmir as "a shameless attack on democracy".

Addressing an election rally at Gandhi Maidan in Matwari, Modi said, "Terrorists tried to attack the democracy of India. But the brave jawans sacrificed their lives protecting the country's security."

Kashmir Valley was rocked by four fidayeen attacks on Friday that left 21 dead. Paying tributes to Jharkhand's slain son Lieutenant Colonel Sankalp Kumar of 24 Punjab Regiment, he said: "In this attack, Jharkhand lost one of its worthy sons, who sacrificed his life for his country. I offer my respectful tributes to all those brave soldiers, who sacrificed their lives and will remain an inspiration for others for generations to come."

The Prime Minister once again played the stability card and urged people to put an end to the politics of caste, community and dynasties and instead vote for stability. "It is during marriages that the need to compare castes arises, but for marriage too youth need development else they would be robbed of employment," Modi said, reiterating that it was because of Jharkhand's malaise of poverty and unemployment that the youth worked as labourers and women and girls worked as domestic helps outside the state.
