Panchkula: Over 21000 cases settled in National Lok Adalat - Indian Express

Over 21, 000 cases were settled at the second Lok Adalat held at the local court on Saturday.


A couple, both of whom who were aged more than 60 years, came for the settlement of their matrimonial dispute over the expenses incurred on their daughter, the case was settled after both of them agreed to share the expenditure.


As many as 16,642 cases were settled at the levels of various departments of the district administration, namely electricity/ water, mutation by revenue courts, pension and cases related to Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA). Cases related to bank and telephone companies amounted to a total of 2,294, which were also settled. The Lok Adalat was held under the guidance of Justice S K Mittal of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, who is also the Executive Chairman, Haryana State Legal Services Authority.


The inspecting judge of the Panchkula session division, Justice Anmol Rattan Singh from Punjab and Haryana High Court, along with Ravi Kumar Sondhi, District and Session Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Panchkula, visited the different benches of the Lok Adalat and observed the working of the benches.


Justice Anmol Rattan Singh also informed the gathering of the various benefits to the parties for settlement of cases in Lok Adalats.

A Lok Adalat help desk was also put up at the entrance of the court complex to guide the litigants.
