According to party sources, Pawar will be rushed to the Breach Candy Hospital at Bhulabhai Desai Road, where he has been treated earlier for other health conditions. He was flown in an King Air B200 ambulance that has room enough to hold a stretcher.
TOI has learnt that Pawar was lying down on a stretcher throughout the journey and was visibly in pain. "His leg was plastered but we do not know the extent of injury as yet," said a source.
Airport authorities made an exception by allowing the air ambulance to land at the domestic airport instead of Juhu aerodrome. Doctors at Breach Candy have already been asked to stay prepared.
