Targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jamaat-ud-Dawah chief Hafiz Saeed on Friday alleged that by holding “sham elections” Modi wanted to tell the world that Kashmir was not a disputed territory.

The outlawed JuD chief also told his supporters that Pakistanis should come forward and help Kashmiris in get “freedom” from India.

“If India can send troops to Afghanistan to help the US then Mujahideen have every right to go to Kashmir and help their brethren. Kashmiris are clamouring for help and it is our duty to respond to their call,” he said addressing a JuD congregation at the historic Minar-e-Pakistan ground here.

The two-day congregation concluded Friday. A large number of Saeed’s supporters reached Lahore from across Pakistan. The Nawaz Sharif government had also run two special trains from Karachi and Hyderabad to transport to the JuD congregation.

Saeed, who roams around freely in Pakistan despite being a designated terrorist, also asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to tell India firmly that the Kashmir issue had be resolved peacefully under the United Nation’s resolution. Otherwise it would be his obligation to extend his government’s support to Kashmiris in securing freedom.

“We want to tell Nawaz Sharif that if India does not listen to ‘a language of love’ then he should provide open support to the Kashmiris for their freedom struggle,” Saeed, who is also the founder of Laskar-e-Taiba, told his supporters.

Saeed said, “Acting on the Quran, it is obligatory on all of us to help Kashmiris in their struggle to get freedom for India. Those who had performed jihad against Russia should go to Kashmir and help the Kashmiris. Gone are the days when Mujahideen were declared terrorists and sanctions were imposed. Now jihad has entered the second phase (in Kashmir). To deal with the Indian atrocities we will have to adopt the course of Ghaznavi and Ghauri.”

He added that when India and its allies “invaded” Muslim countries, jihad was the only option left with Muslims to react.
